Spring is here, which means the arrival of warmer weather, longer days, and more free time. Sadly, it also means saying goodbye to many things.
In the past months, I've been thinking much of moving on. And, while sometimes goodbyes are long-awaited, at other times they are forced upon us. I am swiftly approaching many departure points, and I'm noticing that others have snuck upon me.
For many years I was involved in a wonderful youth leadership organization- TeenPact. I always looked forward to these week-long events and loved every second of them. They taught me much about Christian living and friendship in the family of Christ. At one point, I planned to work with them for many years to come. However, after joining a new school, I wasn't able to attend any of these events this year, and I have come to the realization that I'll likely never go to one again. While of course it is bittersweet to leave something you love, one of the friends I made through TeenPact gave me this reminder: "[This] prepares you for life. It’s not an alternative life. Stay in the word, stay in the fellowship, and stay close with Jesus."  These are the important things, not the events themselves, but the things that they can help you to learn.
As I approach other goodbyes, I remember these words. I treasure what I have learned, and I look forward to what God has for me to learn next.
